Claverham
returned to earth with a bump after this loss to much fancied Bridgwater.
The
Henley Lane outfit had the game won chasing 204 the home side were 87 for 0 in
only the 17th over needing a further 117 from 33 overs with 10
wickets in hand but collapsed to 168 all out.
Earlier
Claverham had pegged Bridgwater back from a strong position of 73 for 0 from 17
overs to a total of only 204. Nigel
Cheeseright 3 for 55 and Paul Bird 2 for 36 the pick of the bowlers.
In
reply, Chris Peyper (64) and Paul Bird (31) got Clav off to a astonishing
start, smashing Minor Counties player Michael Coles out of the attack after
only 2 overs and Windsor his opening partner after just 4 !
It
didn’t last, and to the delight of their travelling brothers, fathers, sisters
and mothers Bridgwater began a fightback which was to see them claw they way
back into the match with Spinner Frick 3 for 30 and ex County star Jason Kerr 5
for 40 the chief party poopers.
Its on to joint leaders Knowle this week for Claverham as they hope to bounce straight back.
