Portishead 182 for 6 Claverham 1st X1 185 for 4

Claverham's recent good form continued with a solid 6 wicket win over

neighbours Portishead at Henley Lane.

After deciding to bat the visitors moved on steadily with Gills (77) and

McMillan(36)leading the way. Claverham's Rich Coombes proved to be the

pick of the bowlers, his guile and vision coupled with unwavering accuracy

accounted for dangerman McMillan in an excellent spell of (2-34). Atul once

again proved his ability as a genuine all-rounder taking (3-46) as Posset

never really pushed on to capitalise on a good batting track.

Recently Claverham's top order has shown it's class and Saturday was no

different, Rich Horton (43) and Paul Bird (44) put the hosts in control,

Bird in particular looking in great shape. Atul, the little man from Bombay,

has proved a shrewd signing this summer and again it was he who took

Claverham home with an innings of 66 not out with one over to spare.

Claverham visit leaders Hanham this Saturday for what promises to be an

absorbing encounter in the penultimate game of the season.
