Long Ashton 116 Claverham 117 for 8
Claverham ended their season on a high with a hard fought victory at Long
Ashton.
A soft, difficult wicket dictated play right through the contest. Having
been put into bat Long Ashton's disappointing season seemed set to
finish on another low as they were shot out for 116. All the Claverham
bowlers made full use of the conditions, swing pair Roger Hooper (3-22)
and Richard Coombes (2-19) along with Atul (3-32) being particularly
effective.
Claverham found their time at the crease no easier, after Forsythe with a
spell of 3 for 4 had ripped out the middle order the Long Ashton bowlers
smelt a rare victory with their opponents in trouble at 76 for 8. To the
delight of 'Team Claverham' though the tail wagged superbly with skipper
Hooper 11 not out and Coombes 25 not out guiding the visitors home in the
43rd over.
Claverham are now looking to progress next season and continue to bring
young players into the 1st X1. Adding to the squad will also be high on
the agenda and anyone looking to move to Henley Lane should contact the
