Hambrook 164 for 8 Claverham 1st X1 166 for 1

A century opening stand between Rich Horton and Paul Bird sealed Claverham

a convincing 9 wicket win at Henley Lane.

Hambrooks decision to bat seemed justified as opener Wheeler (35) took a

liking to the early bowling with the visitors posting 50 within the

first 9 overs. However, games can turn on individual moments and Claverham's

Simon Holmes and Mark Francis both took spectacular catches to pull back

the visitors reigns.

Bowlers Atul (4-38) a season's best, and the ever

miserly skipper Roger Hooper (1-22) continued to turn the screw this

despite a brave 42 from Hambrooks Sharman. The evergreen Francis wrapped up

an impressive personal performance in the field by chipping in with

(2-17) to leave the visitors on a below par 164.

An expectant home crowd were not disappointed as messrs Horton and Bird

set about their target with considerable relish. After the hundred

partnership was reached within 16 overs, the powerful Bird was finally

grounded on 59. Though with 'Mr Reliable' Horton (52) and Atul, with a quick

fire 31 Claverham cruised home and look forward to this weeks interesting

trip to Stoke Bishop.
