Thursday 1st July
Claverham U 13's beat Clevedon U13's by 3 runs.
A terrific team performance resulted in a first league win of the season
for Claverham. Electing to bat first, the top 3 (Lloyd Richardson / Ross
Pearce & Dan Jenlins) all made (Unlucky for some) 13 which built a decent
foundation for a large score. The run rate was always good but wickets
fell at regular intervals to interupt the innings and it was only a
composed knock of 18 from Sam Waring which helped guide Clav to a
competitive 94.
In reply, Clevedon raced along at 7 an over with the impressive Balcoombe
seemingly in control. A change in the weather though bought a change in
the Henley lane teams luck and as the clouds moved in the wickets began to
tumble. All rounder Richardson removed the dangerous Balcoombe and
finished with 2 for 16 and the outfield suddenly became electric as
Claverham sensed victory. Dave Hexter, Sam Waring and Alex Croker were
tiger like in the field and Clevedon were eventually squeezed out by just a
couple of runs.
